Purpose of the Assignment
The objective of this consultancy is to provide training and technical support to the Learning Labs initiative, specifically:
  • To work with partners to design comprehensive, high-value trainings for partners, teachers and young people participating in the Learning Labs Initiative;
  • To monitor and provide support on field trainings, ensuring training cohesiveness and documenting all activities conducted;
  • To serve as the key focal point for working with technology partners, most notably FLE and the GIC, especially as regards Kolibri testing and deployment-related activities;
  • To provide occasional support to training and general coordination-related activities for Keep Children Learning innovations, ultimately increasing the impact of our work.
Assignment Tasks and Expected Deliverables

Engage in weekly calls with FLE, GIC and any other partners related to either the product or trainings.
Create a Google doc where call and meeting notes are aggregated.
In coordination with the FLE team, create a user-testing plan for the Kolibri platform, liaising with schools and young people as needed.
User-testing plan created, submitted, and signed-off on by FLE and the Education Specialist.
In coordination with FLE and the GIC, create a deployment plan for Kolibri; the plan should be informed by testing at site location, and should include any additional staff or hardware requirements.

Conduct usability testing, according to the criteria determined by FLE.
All user-testing reports and videos submitted to Google Drive or Dropbox.
In coordination with the Education Specialist, other Learning Labs team members, and relevant content partners, create a training plan for the LL roll-out. The training plan should coordinate closely with the Kolibri deployment.
All training materials, including the training curriculum, hand-outs, and pre- and post-training surveys to be created and submitted.
Conduct deployment and training activities.
All trip reports and related products (surveys, photos, etc.) submitted according to the deployment and training plans.
In consultation with the M&E specialist, conduct follow-up trainings and assessments to determine any remaining training needs or deployment issues.

Qualifications of Successful Candidate
Education: University degree in a relevant discipline.
Work experience: At least 3 years' experience creating and delivering high-quality trainings in Uganda to a range of audiences.
Competencies:
  • Demonstrated experience delivering trainings on highly-technical topics or systems; experience delivering computer-based trainings, or trainings focused on ICT is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating high-quality training plans, materials and follow-up reports.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and implementing qualitative and quantitative indicators to measure training effectiveness.
  • Experience conducting user-testing is highly preferred.
  • Experience delivering trainings to teachers or educators is highly desired.
  • Experience conducting remote support or follow-up trainings is highly desired.
  • Strong knowledge of participatory and interactive training techniques is required.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and networking skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in using a range of computer and web-based applications including MS Office, Excel, Google Drive, and Dropbox.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships.
  • Excellent English skills required; fluency in a second language is preferred.
  • Experience writing high quality reports and/or proposals.
  • Experience using mobile-based data collection systems is highly desired.
  • Experience in basic photography and/or video recording is highly desired.
