Vice Presidency Context
Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) enables the WBG to achieve its mission of ending extreme poverty by 2030 and boosting shared prosperity in a sustainable manner by delivering transformative information and technologies to its staff working in over 130 client countries.
ITS services range from: establishing the infrastructure to reach and connect staff and development stakeholders; providing the devices and agile technology and information applications to facilitate the science of delivery through decentralized services; creating and maintaining tools to integrate information across the World Bank Group, the clients we serve and the countries where we operate; and delivering the computing power staff need to analyze development challenges and identify solutions.
The ITS business model combines dedicated business solutions centers that provide services tailored to specific World Bank Group business needs and shared services that provide infrastructure, applications and platforms for the entire Group. ITS is one of three VPUs that have been brought together as the World Bank Group Integrated Services (WBGIS), to provide enhanced corporate core services and enable the institution to operate as one strategic and coordinated entity.

ITS Finance Context
ITSFI is responsible for providing high quality, streamlined information and technology solutions for the World Bank Group's financial services, which include Finance, Risk Management, Controls, Treasury, Loans, Accounting, Business Planning and Development finance (managing donor contributions from inception to the point of final disbursement, including IDA, Financial Intermediary Funds and Trust Funds). ITSFI is additionally responsible for building its IT services using a shared platform that provides scale, leverage, reliability, and control while at the same time improving responsiveness to emerging business needs. This position is within ITSAE, the division responsible for IT services provided via Enterprise application platforms. ITSAE is responsible for all core financial systems of the World Bank Group, including the general ledger, special ledgers, asset accounting, travel management, financial messaging and workflow.
The ITSAE Core Financials team is in search of an IT Analyst (Business Solutions) to support the design and development work of the SAP Financials systems. The IT Analyst proposed to be recruited will be a member of the SAP FI team and will report to the SAP Team Lead. She/he will need to work independently, or in teams, and will be accountable for a broad range of responsibilities in the areas of business requirements analysis, design, development, testing, documentation, implementation of various projects and support for core SAP FI systems and processes.
Note: If the selected candidate is a current Bank Group staff member with a Regular or Open-Ended appointment, s/he will retain his/her Regular or Open-Ended appointment. All others will be offered a 4 year term appointment.
Duties and Accountabilities: General duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to the following: a. Work with business users to gather and analyze business requirements and convert these into technical requirements and effective business systems solutions.
b. Develop detailed technical specifications and technical documentation.
c. Design and develop applications in the SAP ABAP environment that meet business requirements effectively and efficiently.
d. Develops detailed flowcharts to show processing logic for programs.
e. Design, plan and lead testing efforts and coordinates feedback of test results. Develop test cases, conduct unit, system, stress, integration and/or user testing to ensure requirements are met.
f. Determine, evaluate, and resolve errors in production business system applications.
g. Gather, evaluate, organize, and maintain information/documentation in a systematic fashion in compliance with the Bank's information security and audit requirements.
h. Ensure that Bank information systems under their control are protected in a manner consistent with Bank information security policy and facilitate security audits and reviews, tracks mitigation actions within the organization until resolution.
i. Ensure that Bank ITS policies, procedures and standards are factored into project design and development.
j. Stay abreast of new technologies offering improvements in efficiency and effectiveness.
k. Actively contributes to the continued and successful operations of business applications in the SAP environment so that business units can function effectively at all times.
l. Liaise with other members of ITSAE and other ITS teams and assist in delivering services and products based on institutional/client needs.
Selection Criteria
The candidate must have a strong knowledge of ABAP programming language, SAP FI and related modules. He/she must have proven experience in systems design and have a solid understanding of development, database design, testing, and integration methodologies.
a. Bachelor's degree (at a minimum) in Information Technology/Computer Science/Finance or another relevant area plus a minimum of 6 years work experience in SAP related systems development & maintenance activities.
b. Extensive experience in SAP ABAP (Core ABAP, Module Pool, RFCs, SmartForms, OOA) - building complex solutions that integrate with core SAP modules and related sub-systems.
c. Expertise in designing and architecting technical solutions in SAP meet to complex business requirements - core areas include New GL, Special Ledgers, Asset Management, etc.
d. Good understanding and familiarity with the Bank's business processes and systems, in particular in the areas of SAP FI.
e. Good knowledge of information management and information technology including system design, planning, and project delivery management.
f. Demonstrated analytical ability and problem-solving skills in translating business requirements into technical requirements/business systems.
g. Demonstrated ability to quickly resolve technical problems in complex and time sensitive production systems.
h. Demonstrated ability to participate in high-performance teams in non-hierarchical, networked settings. Proven ability of leading a small team of developers will be a plus.
i. Ability to produce high quality work outputs, effectively prioritizing and adapting to competing and unexpected demands.
j. Knowledge of information security requirements and controls in system development and maintenance.
k. Ability to express thoughts and ideas effectively in oral and written communications.
l. Ability to act sensitively in multicultural environments and build effective working relations with internal and external partners.
