Background Information - Kenya
The UNOPS East Africa Hub is located in Nairobi and oversees the organizations operations in Somalia, South Sudan and Burundi. The Hub covers a large geographic spread, including Eritrea, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Mauritius, Seychelles and Comoros, in addition to those mentioned above. UNOPS in Kenya implements a large portfolio of projects in partnership with other UN agencies and various donors on the ground, ranging from physical infrastructure to transactional projects.
Functional Responsibilities
  • Process payments in accordance with UNOPS Financial rules and procedures.
  • Maintanace of finance registry.
  • Provide finance supporting documents for audit and other purposes.
  • Processing of financial reports.
  • Full compliance of financial processes and financial records with UNOPS rules, regulations, policies.
  • Vendor and Pooled account reconciliations.
  • Management of finance registry, for proper control and tracking of documents submitted to finance for payments.
  • Processing of financial documentation (vouchers, supporting documents, telephone invoices, etc.) and maintaining internal control system that ensures vouchers processed are matched and completed, transactions are correctly recorded and posted in Atlas; travel claims and other entitlements are duly processed.
  • Production and analysis of financial data quality reports.
  • Extraction and consolidation of payment supporting documents and other financial information as requested by various sources.
  • Maintenance of an effective filing system for financial records and documents.
  • Participation in the trainings for the operations and projects staff on Finance.
  • Contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.Perform any other tasks, as assigned by management.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

  • Ability to share knowledge and experiences.
  • Ability to perform a variety of routine finance tasks and duties that entails screening, collecting and preparation of documentation, data input, transactions tracking, filing and provision of information.
  • Ability to review data, identify and adjust discrepancies.
  • Ability to produce accurate and well documented records conforming to the required standard.
  • Good knowledge of generally acceptable accounting principles.
  • Ability to meet designated deadlines.
  • Focuses on result for the stakeholders and responds positively to feedback.
  • Strong I.T skills.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance or awaiting to graduate in any other relevant field.
Languages
  • Fluency in written and oral English and the language of the duty station required.
  • Knowledge of second UN working language desirable.
