As an Embedded Systems Engineer at BBOXX you will be based in our London office, where you will work alongside a growing team of Software Developers, Hardware Designers and Designers to develop the next generation of BBOXX products to help connected Solar Powered devices to the cloud, enabling them to be sold affordably on service plans across the world. All BBOXX products are connected over the internet to our backend software through which we have the ability to remotely upgrade the firmware running on devices. In this role your will be working on delivering improvements to devices already deployed as well as developing firmware for new products. You may also be working on the ecosystem around the products such as desktop tools used for diagnosing systems issues in our repair centres and production facilities.
Requirements
You should have all of:
  • Proficiency in C development
  • Ability to develop software for resource constrained embedded systems
  • Familiarity with RTOS based development
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, especially for low power electronics
  • Some experience working with wireless communications technologies such as GSM or Bluetooth
  • Understanding of ARM based microcontrollers such as STM32F4 familly
And ideally some of:
  • Experience of development for large volume consumser electronics devices
  • Knowledge of IoT protocols such as CoAP, MQTT, HTTP
  • Remote Firmware upgrades
  • Understanding of testing processes and tools for embedded systems
  • Basic understand of desktop software development.
  • Proficiency in Python development
