In Collaboration with CMI, and the National Bureau of Statistics, REPOA is implementing a five-year (2014-19) institutional collaborative research programme titled “Tanzania as a future petro-state: Prospects and challenges”. This research programme is funded by the Norwegian Embassy in Tanzania.
As part of capacity building, REPOA is currently seeking for a PhD candidate with research interest in the area of oil and gas.
Opportunity Summary
The purpose of this opportunity is to offer capacity building and partial support to bona fide Tanzanians PhD candidates in social sciences from any reputable university who has completed coursework and are about or have started to undertake their fieldwork in the areas of oil and gas.
Possible areas for consideration
1. Data for policy making and public engagement in the petro-state
2. Lessons from mining and the current natural gas business
3. Revenue and expenditure management in the petroleum rich environment .
4. Local content for the petroleum industry .
5. Governance issues related in the petroleum sub-sector .
Required Qualifications
• Current admission as a PhD in social sciences at a reputable university, with a proof of completed coursework and a research proposal.
