ACBF is currently organising the 3rd Pan-African Capacity Development Forum (CDF) and the 25th Anniversary Celebrations scheduled for 2 – 6 May 2016 in Harare, Zimbabwe. In this regard the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES) requires intern to assist in the organisation of this event and other events that will be organised after the CDF. The intern will be required to work closely with staff members in the Office of the Executive Secretary and perform various administrative related tasks in preparation for the CDF. In addition, the intern will also be required to provide support to the communications department by assisting to research, develop write ups and documents to be used for the ACBF website among other tasks.
The Capacity Development Forum (CDF) will provide an excellent opportunity for ACBF to partner with institutions working for Africa’s sustainable capacity development and exclusive opportunity to showcase their work and to exhibit programs designed to develop sustainable capacity in Africa’s public sector, private sector and civil society for an effective transformation. The Forum will also provide a unique opportunity to policy makers and development practitioners, to reflect on the priority capacity development avenues that will lead to effective economic and social transformation in Africa.
Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Program Officer in the Office of the Executive Secretary, the Intern will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities;

Provide administrative support with the organization and logistical preparations of the CDF event and other corporate events.
Assist with the media engagement and monitoring activities and other related communications unit engagements.
Research, draft reports and other documents needed on assigned topics and tasks.
Participate in day-to-day operational tasks of the department. This may include compiling information for requests received; developing presentations; collaborating with departments.
Perform other administrative and communication duties as assigned.
Selection will be on a competitive basis and the following minimum qualifications, experience and competencies are required:
Applicants must be enrolled in Master’s degree program or recently completed a Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Journalism, International Relations, Business Administration, Communications, Events Management or related field from a recognized institution.

Excellent written and spoken English. Knowledge of French will be considered an added advantage.

Excellent computer knowledge (MS applications, web and social media)
Demonstrated knowledge of – or proven interest in – communications, research and writing, event organizations, management and coordination
Previous experience in communication, administration and organisation of events would be considered as an added advantage.
