With 25 operational branches in Tanzania, DTB is now looking for capable and qualified individuals to fill in the following positions:-
Deputy Head Risk Management.
Reporting to Head of Risk, the incumbent will be responsible for providing independent oversight over the risk management in terms of Risk Management Guidelines of the Bank of Tanzania, the bank’s policies, procedures and also shall be responsible for each unit of the bank doing an internal risk review and taking adequate steps towards risk mitigation.
The incumbent will also develop and improve the standards concerning the measurement, monitoring and control of all risks, indulging credit risk, market risk, interest rate risk, operational risk and other risks.
The Deputy Head of Risk’s main objective is to provide assurance to a variety of stakeholders that risks are appropriately managed and that the institution’s risk is within its stated tolerance levels.
Key Responsibilities;
• Enhancing and integrating the function for Bank-wide Risk Management across DTB.
• Assemble risk scenarios to estimate the likelihood and impact of significant events to the Bank.
• Providing support, education and training to staff to build risk awareness within the Bank.
• Manage the Department efficiently so that performance goals and objectives are achieved.
• Building capacity and the ability to identify, measure, monitor and control the underlying risk that the Bank continues to face mainly Strategic, Credit, Liquidity, Interest Rate, Price, Foreign’
• Exchange Rate, Operation, Reputational and Regulatory.
• Identify and resolve any performance issues.
• Submit reports to the Management Committees and Board
• Communicate the risk strategy, plans and ideas to the staff
• Promote awareness and ensure adherence to all policies & procedure.
• Maintain a schedule of policy review and submission to the board for approval.
• Review of all risk related policies regularly as per BOT
Educational qualifications
• Post graduate qualification in Banking, Accounting or Finance e.g. MBA degree or any other relevant.
• Professional qualifications such as ACCA or CPA is an added advantage.

Experience & competencies required
• Minimum of 10 years banking experience, with at least 3 to 5 years at managerial level in the Risk function.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with analytical skills, knowledge of Regulations, legal aspects of banking, sound banking practices.
• A structured approach to dealing with tasks in an objective manner.
• Able to provide advice and cause/effect evaluation to support risk management decisions.
• Independent and analytic capabilities with demonstrated implementation experience.
