We are:
African Bamboo PLC is a forestry, wood processing and bio-energy company, primarily using bamboo as feedstock established in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia since 2012. We are a daughter company of Fortune Enterprise PLC, a privately owned firm engaged in wood and metal furniture manufacturing in Addis Ababa. Ethiopia has a shortage of wood, but accounts for 67 percent of Africa’s entire bamboo resources with about 1 million ha of bamboo coverage. Hence, Fortune Enterprise decided to gradually shift its raw material source to bamboo and transform the production from wood furniture to high-value composite bamboo products such as compressed panels and outdoor decking for export purpose. It is the objective of AB, primarily using bamboo as feedstock, to optimize the multi-purpose benefits of the immense bamboo resources available in Ethiopia. In the last four years, in collaboration with key development partners including: GiZ, USAID, AfDB and Dutch PSI we have undertaken research and development establishing core foundations of the business. Key investments have enabled AB to accomplish core competency in the following area: (1). Product Development Innovation Centre (PDIC) /prototype line was set up to improve the production process and quality of bamboo panels; (2). Product testing and production process protocols; (3). Establishment of Integrated Supply. (4). Market development. (5). Sustainable management and utilization of the immense potential of Ethiopia’s bamboo resources. At current, we are working to secure additional financing for the development of industrial processing plant to produce quality Woven Strand Board for international export market.
Main tasks are:
Develop and deliver marketing and communications strategies for the organization.
Undertake R&D to define product opportunities, customer needs and insights
Develop market access database and strategy
Develop marketing strategy for new product lines
Oversee implementation of the Marketing strategy – including campaigns, events, digital marketing, and PR.
Develop annual sales plan and execution strategy
Collaborate with management to establish and recommend the most realistic sales goals for the company.
Carry out and monitor price analysis and price parity
Establish and manage distribution channels
Manage an assigned geographic sales area for product line to maximize sales revenues and meet corporate objectives.
Secure sales agreements by effectively utilizing resources
Work closely with the company’s management team; enabling them to meet their commercial objectives by providing them with appropriate tools, materials and presentations
Work closely with product management team to define marketing materials and programs.
Establish and manage social media presence and direct programs to improve social media reputation and recognition.
Undertake continuous analysis of competitive environment and consumer trends
Guide the day to day activities of the marketing team and ensuring that the marketing objectives are implemented by the marketing team.
Establish and manage effective programs to compensate, coach, appraise and train sales personnel.

A Professional with some years of experience in market development and have experience in overseeing the development and delivery of a fully integrated marketing strategy in developing country. You have a University degree in a relevant field (Bachelors or Masters degree in Marketing, Professional chartered marketer). You have a proven track record of success in advanced marketing roles, confident, driven and dynamic leader. Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to spot original branding opportunities and excellent management and communication skills in English. Exposure to project life cycle management, ability to work independently, ability to troubleshoot and solve problems, excellent IT skills, ability to present complex information electronically and in-person to range of audience, experience in a developing country will make you the perfect candidate to join the team.
