Job Purpose:
Facilitate the processing of payment for goods and services and ensure that records and books of accounts are complete, accurate and up to date.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Accounts Assistant shall perform the following functions :

Initiate preparation of payment vouchers as per the necessary approvals.
Verify payment vouchers.
Maintain ledgers.
Update payment records.
Post payment vouchers into the system.
Reconcile daily, weekly/monthly accounts.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by management from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience:
Academinc and Professional Qualifications

Undergraduate Degree in Accounts or finance, Business Administration with CPA II / ACCA II or relevant accounting certification.

Work Experience

Minimum of 5 years working in an accounting environment.

Skills and Competencies:
Competency in Accounting systems, Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
High level of integrity

Job Purpose:
Deputize the Registrar, EAC Competition Authority in matters related to Monopolies and Cartels.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Registrar, the Deputy Registrar, Monopolies and Cartels shall perform the following functions:

Manage the operations of the Directorate in liaison with the Registrar;
Develop policies and guidelines on Monopolies and Cartels in the EAC;
Investigate/monitor anti-competitive trade or restrictive business practices that have the effect of prevention, restriction and distortion of competition in the EAC;
Carry out market research, assessments, analysis in identified sectors in a liaison with the Research Policy and Advocacy Unit;
Proactively develop competition assessment operational guidelines and procedures in line with international best practices;
Compile and submit investigation reports and case recommendations to the Registrar;
Submit performance reports to the Registrar of the Authority;
Develop a pragmatic directorate strategic vision, objectives and strategies to feed into the corporate strategic plan;
Prepare Directorate budgets and programs; and,
Performance of all such related duties as may be assigned by the Registrar.
Qualifications and Experience:
Academic and Professional Qualifications

Must have an advanced degree (at least a Masters) in Economics, Law, Marketing, Business Administration, Public administration or a related field.

Working Experience

A minimum of at least 15 years relevant post-qualifying experience in competition matters, 10 of which should be at senior level.

The suitable candidate should have the following attributes: shapes strategic thinking, achieves results, team player, exemplifies personal drive and integrity, cultivates productive working relationships, communicates effectively.

Job Purpose:

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the Registrar, the Deputy Registrar Mergers and Acquisitions shall perform the following functions:

Manage the operations of the Directorate in liaison with the Registrar;
Develop policies and guidelines on Mergers and Concentrations in the EAC;
Establish and operationalize the EAC Competition Network which shall be responsible for coordination and consultation with national Competition Authorities in assessment of mergers;
Assess notified and identified mergers as provided for under the EAC Competition Law giving due regard to the best international practices;
Assess notified and identified state aid applications as provided for under the EAC Competition Law giving due regard to the best international practices;
Assist Partner States in establishing effective merger control regimes at the National level;
Compile and submit investigation reports and case recommendations to the Registrar;
Develop a ‘user friendly’ merger notification procedure and filing system at the Authority;
Develop and implement subsidiary rules relating to the Merger Notification and Filing procedures i.e. notification Forms, lodgement schedules, fees payable, etc;
Develop the ‘office practice’ of the Authority in the assessment of mergers and guidelines, operational manual and procedures in accordance with the provisions of the Law;
Educate the public on the merger provisions of the Regulations as well as draft relevant publications for public dissemination and advise the Registrar of the Authority on possible courses of action after a market study is concluded;
Fostering multilateral cooperation in cross-border merger review among Partner States;
Network with regional and international merger enforcement agencies and keep an update on latest developments and facilitate the Authority’s participation in key merger market analysis regional and international conferences;
Submit performance reports to the Registrar;
Develop a pragmatic department strategic vision, objectives and strategies to feed into the corporate strategic plan;
Prepare departmental budgets and programs; and,
Performance of all such related duties as may be assigned by the Registrar.

Must have an advanced degree (at least a Masters) in Economics, Commerce, Law, Marketing, Business Administration, Public administration or related field.

Working Experience

Job Purpose:

He/she will be the Secretary to the Board of Commissioners;
Provide high quality advice to the Board of Commissioners, on key strategic, legal and economic matters;
Manage the staff of the EAC Competition Authority and provide high level strategic direction;
Represent the EAC Competition Authority at the highest levels in industry and Government, regionally and internationally;
Work and cooperate with Partner States competition authorities and consumer protection agencies on matters of competition and consumer protection;
Establishing systems, procedures and institutional processes of the Authority;
Work to raise the profile and public perception of the Authority;
Work towards the enforcement of EAC Competition Act, 2006, in the EAC Customs Union/Common Market;
Establish strategic alliances with national and international competition organisations which may be in a position to provide financial and technical assistance to the Authority
Present board papers to the Board of Commissioners in regard to operations of the Authority; and,
Undertake any other duties assigned by the Board of Commissioners from time to time.

Bachelor’s degree in Secretarial Studies in addition to Diploma in Computer studies covering Microsoft office

Working Experience

Minimum 10 years experience, with minimum 5 years experience managing an Executive Office. Also, skills in typing of at least 80wpm and shorthand 120wpm are necessary.
Skills and Competencies:
Must have good communication skills with good command of English and Kiswahili, outgoing, interpersonal and be customer oriented. She should be team-player, proficient in the use of computers packages and able to withstand pressure.
