AKF is looking for well qualified professionals to fill the following three positions for Tanzania.

1. Programme Director – Coastal Rural Support Programme-Tanzania (CRSP-T)

Duty station: mtwara, Tanzania
Are you cut out to lead a high performing team engaged increating social and economic development opportunities in isolated areas? In the Mtwara and Lindi regions of Southern Tanzania, the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is developing links between private companies and smallholder farmers to unlock markets, promoting digital financial services and strengthening education and health systems. AKF is looking for a dynamic leader to work as programme Director of its multi-sector Coastal Rural Support Programme that has been operational in Mtwara and Lindi regions since 2009. Reporting to the AKF Country Director in Tanzania, the programme Director will be leading a team of over 60staff and a programme that has shown impact and received top rating from external evaluators. Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead, manage and mentor a multi-disciplinary team.
• Ensure that CRSPT is achieving the desired results and impact.
• Ensure high quality implementation of all CRSPT activities, including management and oversight of grants.
• Oversee operations to ensure effective delivery of programme activities.
• Ensure coordination and synergy among various sectors and projects under CRSPT
• Manage relationship with local government, NGOs and private sector in the region.
• Ensure compliance with donor and AKF regulations and policies
• Promote and institutionalize reflection and learning within CRSPT.
• Foster a culture of team building and support, integrity, high performance and accountability,

Qualifications and Experience
• Minimum of Master`s degree in Economics, Business Administration, International Development or related field.
• Minimum 10 years` experience in international development, at least 4 years in leadership role
• Experience of working in value chain development, agri-business, or Multi-sectoral programme.
• Strong programme management & people management skills at a senior level.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English proficiency in Kiswahili highly desirable.
• Willingness to live in remote location and travel to remote areas.

2. Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator – Coastal Rural Support Programme – Tanzania (CRSP-T)

Duty Station: Mtwara, Tanzania
If you are looking for a position that will test you’re analytical and management skills to their limit then please apply. Reporting to the Manager, Monitoring and Evaluation, Action Research and Communication (MEARC), the M&E Coordinator will manage and coordinate the monitoring, evaluation and learning agenda for AKF`s multi-sector Coastal Rural Support Programme in Lindi and Mtwara regions which includes economic and social sector programming. The incumbent will manage the M&E team and be responsible for designing and implementing M&E frameworks and systems in order to ensure efficient and effective tracking of progress against CRSP (T)`s activities, outputs and outcomes, facilitating sector managers in the use of M&E outputs for planning and management, ensuring production of high quality reports for donors and AKF management.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage, coordinate and deliver on the M&E agenda of CRSP(T), ensuring that tools, systems, capacities and resources are in place to implement the various PMFs and report on agreed indicators.
• With support from the MEARC, design M&E frameworks and systems in order to ensure efficient and effective tracking of progress against CRSP(T)`s activities, outputs and outcomes.
• Lead the implementation of required assessment, qualitative and quantitative studies and surveys and output monitoring to track progress of the CRSP(T) grants. Facilitate sector managers in the use of M&E outputs for planning and management.
• Ensure production of high quality reports for donors and AKF management, and documentation and dissemination of lessons learnt.
• Manage and mentor the M&E team, ensuring capacity building needs are met.
• In collaboration with the MEAEC, manage and maintain the M&E budget and coordinate all matters pertaining to the budget.

Qualifications/Experience
• Post-graduate degree, preferably in Economics, statistics, Business Administration or relevant field.
• Minimum 6 years of professional experience in monitoring and evaluation of rural development programmes particularly in agriculture and market development, at least 3 of these years in an M&E related management position.
• Knowledge of Results Based Management (RBM), including how to develop logic models and how to develop SMART indicators.
• Demonstrated ability in design and implementation of quantitative surveys and qualitative studies.
• Qualitative research experiences an advantage.
• Ability to use statistical packages and data entry systems for quantitative data (e.g Ms Access, CSPro, or others)
• Demonstrated capacity to write high quality results-based and donor reports.
• Excellent written and verbal English language skills; proficiency in Kiswahili is highly desirable;
• Strong people management skills.
• Ability to live in remote areas and travel to remote field locations.

3. Senior Programme Officer, Health and Nutrition (Tanzania)

Duty Station Dar es salaam, Tanzania
Do you have the creativity and drive to develop new and innovative health and nutrition programs, mobilise resources, manage grants and foster productive partnerships with diverse stakeholders in Tanzania? This position offers the opportunity to take on these tasks. Reporting to the AKF Country Director for Tanzania, the position of Senior programme officer, Health and Nutrition is part of AKF Tanzania`s core team that would provide the successful candidate with an exciting opportunity to oversee and shape the health and nutrition programming portfolio of the Foundation in Tanzania and exposure to the East Africa region. This is a highly demanding position and the successful candidate will be expected to take lead in the health and nutrition sector-leading and contributing to AKF-T`s strategic direction, grant management, and leaning and policy engagement in health and nutrition.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead program development and resource mobilisation for AKF`s health, nutrition and early childhood development portfolio in Tanzania.
• Develop and/or contribute to successful programme proposals in line with AKF`s regional health, nutrition and ECD strategy.
• Provide technical oversight and quality control of health and nutrition programmes
• Fulfil all grant management responsibilities for on-going and future grants/projects including writing and overseeing the development of high quality progress reports, project implementation plans and performance monitoring frameworks, identifying implementation challenges and recommending solutions, and ensuring excellent, cooperative relationships with partner institutions.
• Implement a robust learning system for the health and nutrition sector that enables learning to inform policies, programme and practices.
• Foster productive relationship with key stakeholders including relevant ministries and government authorities, networks, working groups, policy forums, development partners, donor agencies, private sector and civil society organizations working on health, nutrition and early childhood development.

Qualifications/Experience
• A Master`s degree in health, nutrition or related field.
• At least six years of solid experience working within the health system, public health and/or project management on health, MNCH and/or nutrition projects.
• Experience in early childhood development is an added advantage.
• Proven programme development experience with ability to write strong proposals and responsive bids for new programmes on health, nutrition or ECD.
• Proven experience in grant/project management
• Demonstrated capacity to write high quality reports for donor projects and analytical briefs.
• Strong familiarity with monitoring and evaluation methodologies and logical frameworks.
• Exceptional written and verbal skills in English.
• Knowledge of programme and budget planning processes and a solid understanding of project funds management;
• Thorough understanding of the national and global efforts on maternal, newborn, teamwork and management skills.
• Experience of working in Tanzania or East Africa.
• Proficiency in Kiswahili is highly desirable.
