OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME : Within the HIV, TB, Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases (HTM) Cluster, the objectives of the Department of Control of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) are to reduce the negative impact of endemic tropical diseases through the prevention, control, elimination and eradication of selected endemic tropical diseases, as specified in the WHO NTD Road Map: Accelerating work to overcome the Global Impact of Neglected Tropical Diseases: a roadmap for implementation (2012). To attain this, the Department prioritizes five public health strategies, namely: (i) preventive chemotherapy (ii) innovative and intensified disease-management (iii) vector control (iv) safe water, sanitation and hygiene and (v) veterinary public-health services to control neglected zoonotic diseases. The objective of the Department is to lead an efficacious and expanded effort to support Member States in the implementation of these strategies.
Description of duties: Capacity Building (CCB) unit within the Department of Control of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) and provide ideas and advice in the design, construction, management and daily maintenance of the Department's websites. Develop graphics and administer general websites' content.
Under the supervision of the Team Leader, CCB, the incumbent is in charge of the development, update and content management of the NTD website. The incumbent must demonstrate attention to detail, have the ability to manage competing priorities, and independently fix problems related to website.
The incumbent will: 1. Package NTD's information as web content in English on NTD website.
2. Update visual and text to keep NTD site current and engaging.
3. Develop NTD website functionality to accommodate specific communication needs.
4. Support the Communication team in expanding the sites' cross linkages to social media platforms for optimal information dissemination.

6. Create visuals that can simplify websites' medical and scientific narratives, interpretation of data and research findings.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Essential: First university degree in science or related field.

Skills: Excellent communication and organization skills. Knowledge and experience of infographics and interactive graphics technologies. Good data visualisation skills. Good understanding of electronic media standards and trends. Ability to elaborate on strategic thinking behind design decisions to people with varied level of technical expertise. Experience in Webit and basic HTML. Skills in preparing written documents for use online, basic and the Windows operating system. Experience in creating infographics (map, charts, diagrams) and visualizing data. Ability to create illustrations and icons with an ability to define functionality and produce flowcharts, wireframes and templates. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and particularly InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Experience: Essential: A minimum of 2 years' experience in infographics, data collection, analysis and visualisation. Knowledge of content management systems. Good understanding of the biological implications of different diseases to successfully 'popularize' for the general public.
Desirable: Experience of working on public health and/or scientific issues (in web communication). Experience in design technologies such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, etc.
Languages: Essential: Expert knowledge of English or French with intermediate knowledge of the other language.

WHO's salaries are calculated in US dollars. They consist of a base salary and a post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station and exchange rates. Post Adjustment: 87.5 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
