Background / General description
IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, is the largest global development institution focused exclusively on the private sector. It helps developing countries achieve sustainable growth by financing investment, mobilizing capital in international financial markets, and providing advisory services to businesses and governments. IFC’s Public-Private Partnership Transactions (CASPP) within the Cross Cutting Advisory Solutions Department (CASDR) provides sell side financial advisory services and acts as Lead Transaction Advisor to governments to structure and implement public-private partnerships (PPP) transactions, primarily for public services. Its aim is to increase access to basic infrastructure (electricity, water, transportation and telecommunications) and social services (health and education) and facilitate private investments. The department is looking for an is looking to recruit two experienced Investment Analyst (IA) for its Cross Cutting Advisory, Public Private Partnerships - South Asia team who will support the regional team and management with the whole PPP transaction process of IFC acting as Lead Transaction Advisor. The team focuses on advising on the following types of transactions, across all infrastructure sectors with a particular focus on energy and transport:
  • Public-Private Partnerships e.g. BOT type concessions
  • Management and lease contracts
  • Restructuring and privatization of state-owned enterprises The position is based in New Delhi, India and reports to the Regional Manager in the South Asia region. Note: If the selected candidate is a current Bank Group staff member with a Regular or Open-Ended appointment, s/he will retain his/her Regular or Open-Ended appointment. All others will be offered a 2 year term appointment.
    Duties and Accountabilities
  • The Investment Analyst will work closely with team leaders as part of the project team to assist in the origination, due diligence, structuring, negotiation and bidding of infrastructure projects.
  • Duties will include, but will not be limited to: i. Preparation of pitch books and proposals ii. Approval memos and documentation iii. Due diligence and transaction structuring reports iv. Financial models v. Review legal and technical outputs and documentation vi. Assist in preparation of prequalification and tender documentation vii. Assist in marketing to potential investors, conducting international competitive bidding and commercial/financial closure viii. Assist in other project or strategy related activities as the need may arise. Selection Criteria
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting or a related specialty from a top reputed university
  • Solid and relevant experience of a minimum of three years gained in the IFC investment side or another leading financial institution either in project finance, corporate finance or M&A and privatizations
  • Knowledge of overall industry sector trends and experience in infrastructure transactions/PPPs in South Asia.
  • Strong financial modeling skills
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills and ability to communicate ideas clearly and confidently, with good presentation skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel on short notice and frequently, as required
