The position is located in the Delivery Management Team of Umoja in the Department of Management in New York. The Senior Information Systems Officer (HCM Integration and Configuration) reports to the Delivery Management Lead of the Delivery Management Team.

Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Delivery Management Lead, the Senior Information Systems Officer (HCM Integration and Configuration) will be responsible for the following duties
- Based on confirmed business requirements, plans and directs the analysis of complex business problems to be solved with the SAP solution. This includes the design and execution of the system configuration and the identification of enhancements, or other customizations required to address approved business requirements. Specifically for the various HCM modules in SAP as well as the associated NPO (Non-Profit Organization) entitlements functionality, taking ownership of configuration management and the related change control processes and ensuring integration between various SAP systems/modules, such as for Payroll, OM and Travel with Finance, as well as the related interfaces to other UN Enterprise and existing UN systems [including Siebel Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and EMC2 Documentum, etc.].
- Identifies SAP system's configuration and integration requirements in connection with the ICSC changes to the NPO/HCM functionality, including in respect of alternatives, applications, legacy or specialized systems, as well as databases; oversees the writing of relevant business design documents as well as of detailed functional specifications in said respects.
- Leads
and directs a team of information systems officers, overseeing
activities for select work and processes across the solution with
relevance to the configuration and integration roles under assignment by
- approving SAP HCM and Travel configuration and related documentation provided by staff and/or implementing partners to ensure it meets required technical standards and has effectively captured business requirements;
- overseeing and manages the resources working on SAP security in respect of the solution's HCM and Travel modules;
- developing and monitoring performance measures regarding the above duties, ensuring that work and projects meet established time lines and cost plans with high standards of technical quality; planning and allocating work assignments; and coaching, mentoring, and evaluating staff.
- Coordinates relevant Tier 3 specialized support for the corresponding area, diagnoses issues, fixes, enhancement and provides recommendations in respect of design or configuration, changes to procedure, etc.
- Provides direction on development of test scripts and scenarios development, reviews and validates scripts and scenarios for all phases of testing including Unit Testing, Functional Acceptance Testing, Product Integration Testing, Payroll Parallel Testing and User Verification Testing. Takes responsibility for ensuring that the test scenarios designed verify that the system is compliant with business process requirements and that all relevant integration points have been considered and configured.
- Liaises with SAP on matters related to the NPO and Core solutions to report defects in a timely manner and to support the follow-up required for the resolution of the identified issues. Also provides clear systems and functional requirements to SAP based on approved business process requirements.
- Collaborates with the Umoja Technology Solutions team and the Delivery Management team, when SAP releases OSS Notes, Support packs, Enhancement packs, and/or upgrades are required to ensure such enhancements address organizational requirements and follow the project testing and change control procedures before being implemented in the Production environment.
- Works with the Technology Solutions team to ensure alignment with the Organization's application architecture.
- Professionalism: Demonstrates professional competence and mastery in SAP HCM and Travel, specifically in respect of design, configuration, development and implementation. Demonstrated ability to design technical solutions for the integration of said business processes in an ERP environment. Proficiency in SAP's development platform is required. Experience with other databases is desirable (e.g. Oracle, HANA, and/or DB2, SQL Server). Experience with Project Management methodologies and tools as well as Issue and Risk Management tools and methodologies for SAP implementation purposes is required (e.g., MS Project, Clarity, PRINCE 2, PMBOK, etc). Demonstrates ability to apply good judgment; is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving quality results; is motivated by professional rather than personal concerns; shows persistence when faced with difficult problems or challenges; remains calm in stressful situations. Ability to identify risks to project deliverables and deadlines and manage these risks in consultation with colleagues and the project management team.

- Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics, statistics or related field.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in planning, design, development, implementation and maintenance of computer information systems is required.
- Extensive experience with end-to-end configuration and integration of NPO HCM and Travel processes in SAP, including in respect of security aspects within the United Nations or other large comparable International Organisation is required
- Experience integrating SAP ERP packages with other enterprise systems or other internal systems, including interfaces based on SOA principles and technology is required.
- Experience with SAP HCM Not-for-Profit Payroll solution and Entitlements Validation Engine is also required.
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
- For the post advertised, fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
