Job Title: Business Development Officer (1 position)
Location: Songea (M)
Reports To:Director-Caritas and Development of Archdiocese of ‘Songea (CDASO)
Position Description
Responsible for coordinating all entrepreneurship, market development and finance activities as well as establishing/promoting linkages with private sector companies in Tanzania under the guidance of the technical staff from CRS and partner Project Coordinator. Responsible for coordinating the development of sustainable former organizations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide/facilitate capacity development training and support to project staff and community volunteers to effectively mobilize and deliver organizational. and business development services to farmers (i.e., farmer mobilization, organizational development, business planning, market and information linkages, and financial services].
In collaboration with’ CRS Marketing and Financing Manager and Partner Project Coordinator, identify key market players and facilitate linkage to farmers
Ensure there is up to date information about market for soybean and access to markets
Participate in developing business plans and training program, and conduct training to farmer groups and individual farmers Coordinate linkage to service’ providers to deliver services and trainings to farmers such as financial literacy trainings, agriculture loans, and inputs.
Work with Field Extension officers and partner project coordinator to train the groups on business planning and develop bankable business plans for farmer groups and individual farmers Conduct monthly periodic reviews to ensure that all business plans are adhered to and the entrepreneurial capacity of farmers is enhanced ‘ With support from CRS technical leads and partner project coordinator develop a sustainable marketing structure to enhance market access
In collaboration with ‘CRS Marketing and Financing Manager and partner
Project Coordinator, develop linkages with other actors in the value chain and create partnerships to benefit farmers’ business enterprises
Ensure timely data collection on marketing, finance and business development service activities and compile monthly and quarterly reports
Ensure that project implementation plan, quarterly reports and documents for M & E are up to date.
Background
CDASO seeks a qualified candidate for Business Development-Officer position in the Soya Ni- Peso Peso project funded by USDA through Catholic Relief Services (CRS) this project aims to increase income for smallholder farmers and build strong foundations for economic growth by promoting the cultivation and marketing of soybeans in Songea and Namturnbo district.
Qualifications/Experience
• A degree in “Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, or any other relevant qualification from a recognized university
• At least 5 years work experience in community mobilization, organizing and training farmers in agribusiness development and marketing.
• Knowledge and experience in participatory training methodologies.
• Networking experience with private sector and other stakeholders.
• Strong written and Verbal communication skills in English and Swahili
• Proficiency in computer use – Microsoft Word and Excel

Requirements and Responsibilities
• To inspect, test, and sample manufactured products for defects and any deviations from specifications.
• Experience with measuring tools, such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Pie tape, etc. is required.
• Observe production operations and equipment to ensure that specifications are being met and to make necessary adjustments to processes.
• Ability to communicate and discuss results and findings with those in charge of the products, and recommend any required corrective actions.
• At least 3 years work experience; preferably in Steel industry carrying out the duties and responsibilities of a quality clerk is preferable.
• Minimum form 4 educations is required to obtain employment and /or certified with VETA.
• A keen attention to detail is central to the job in order to detect defects that could be easily missed.
• Should be able to work under pressure and with minimum supervision

In October 2013,
Children in Crossfire initiated 4-years progrmme called “ Fursa Kwa
Watoto” (opportunity for Children). The programme will combine direct
interventions with 27,000 children in schools in kilimanjaro and Mwanza
Regions with local and national advocacy that will inform decision
makers and lead to improved allocated resources for pre-primary
education in Tanzania. Children in Crossfire are leading the
implementation in collaboration with multiple partners at the
international, national and regional levels.Manager in implementing the programme, Children in Crossfire is recruiting a programme Technical Officer. This position requires a professional and committed individual with demonstrated experience in the education sector as well as the enthusiasm to learn and develop professionally.
