Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Registry of the United Nations Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals (“Mechanism”), the Arusha Branch. Duties may also include travel to the sub-office in Kigali, Rwanda. The incumbent will report to the Registry Officer-in-Charge.
Responsibilities
The Medical Officer will be responsible for treating and advising Mechanism staff and management. The Medical Officer may also be called on to treat persons detained under the authority of the Mechanism and witnesses of the Mechanism, when required. Within delegated authority, the Medical Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
Clinical Duties:
• Undertakes day-to-day clinical duties, e.g. walk-in clinic, emergencies.
• Undertakes day-to-day occupational health duties: pre-placement and periodic medical examinations, prepare UN staff for travelling, providing immunizations, malaria prophylaxis, travel kits, etc.
• Refers staff to outside specialists as necessary.
• Follows-up with outside specialists.
• Provides health education and health promotion programs.
• Organizes / Participates in addressing work environment and occupational health issues.
Medico Administrative Duties:
• Advises Administration on medical standards for recruitment, sick leave, and medical evacuations / repatriations as per United Nations policies and guidelines.
• Participates in drafting and implementation of business continuity and crises preparedness plans for the duty station in Arusha, as well as for the sub-office in Kigali.
• Manages / Supports day-to-day operations.
Supervisory Administration:
• Supervises laboratory technicians, nurses and medical administrative staff; ensures availability of drugs and medical supplies and proper functioning of medical equipment.
• Ensures appropriate training programs are implemented in order to maintain and develop the medical capabilities (e.g. health education, HIV / AIDS prevention, first aid and CPR).
General:

Org. Setting and Reporting
The position of Head, Security and Safety Unit, is located in the Registry, Arusha Branch, Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals (“MICT”). The incumbent will be responsible for the Security and Safety Unit of the MICT Arusha Branch. He / she will report to the Registrar.
Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Registrar, the Head of Security and Safety Unit will have the following principal tasks:
• Operational:
o Daily management of the MICT Arusha Branch Security and Safety Unit, including personnel and scheduling issues, and ensuring understanding and enforcement of operational policies and procedures by all members of the Security and Safety Unit.
o The development and review of security policies and procedures.
o Direct personal responsibility for the daily management of the following areas and staff: Fire and Safety; Security Training; Pass & ID; Administrative Assistant; and the Unit Stores Controller.
o Assist in the conduct of any sensitive security investigations pertaining to the MICT Arusha Branch staff or the protection of MICT Arusha Branch assets in conjunction with the Investigations Unit, as necessary.
o In coordination with the MICT Registry Officer-in-Charge of the Arusha Branch, liaise with the relevant officials of the Justice, Security and Intelligence agencies of the Host State, and the local area police force to counteract any hostile activity directed against the MICT Arusha Branch, including the United Nations Detention Facility and the sub-office in Kigali.
o Liaise and act in conjunction with the MICT Registry Officer-in-Charge of the Arusha Branch in relation to the work of other relevant Sections and Units to ensure that security operations fully and pro-actively support the aims and functions of the MICT.
o Oversee Field Security Operations, in particular the work of Security Officers assigned to the sub-office in Kigali, security threat assessment and planning for close protection and other field-related activities, including missions by the MICT Judges.
• Administrative:
o Undertake the forecasting of all budgetary requirements and the administration of all financial matters pertaining to the Security and Safety Unit, MICT Arusha Branch, and the operation of accounts devolved to the Unit. The incumbent will specify appropriate security related equipment and refine broad operational security requirements against “best practice” in security to ensure value for money solutions prior to purchase.
o Management of all aspects of the Security and Safety Unit’s equipment portfolio.
o Selection, induction and training of all Security Officers. Ensure that personnel standards are maintained. Training activities, both external and in-house, cover a wide array of subjects and must match UNDSS standards.
o Plan and develop the Security and Safety Unit contribution to special projects, such as managing the security aspects of the new MICT Arusha Branch facility, the long term maintenance of the CCTV and the access control system as well as the continuous enhancement of physical security arrangements.
o Perform other duties, as required.

Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in security management, preferably in a police or military context, which should include a high standard of physical fitness and operation under arduous conditions, unit command and senior-level staff experience, demonstration of high level of leadership and capability of rapid decision-making (with little margin for error).
Languages

Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Registry Officer-in-Charge, the incumbent:
• Provides a range of legal and policy advice and support to the Registrar and the Registry Officer-in-Charge. This includes coordinating and strategising the work within the Registry Arusha Branch; liaising and coordinating work with the Registry Hague Branch and with the Mechanism President, Chambers and Prosecutor, as required.
• Serves as a lead officer in one or more areas of concentration, and independently handles a wide range of multi-discipline and complex legal and policy matters involving issues of international, public, private, administrative, international humanitarian and criminal law (both substantive and procedural).
• Provides legal, policy and diplomatic advice on diverse substantive and procedural questions of considerable complexity, which may include those related to the Mechanism administration and management. They may also include assessment and advice on strategic topics that relate to the mandate of the Registry of the Mechanism.
• Performs extensive legal and political affairs research and analysis and prepares legal opinions, policy advice, studies, briefs, reports and correspondence.
• Contributes to review and design of new, or new applications of, legal instruments, policy, guidelines, etc.
• Prepares or reviews draft legal submissions for the Registrar.
• Participates in and assists the Registrar with diplomatic conferences, commissions, committees, task forces, expert groups and other bodies, including preparation of draft presentations and speeches, background materials, summaries of issues and views of delegations, meeting reports, etc.

Main responsibility

Duties and responsibilities:
Overall objective: the Seed Business Development Specialist (SBDS), in consultation with project team and other CIAT staff, S/he provides leadership and guidance to the project.
Specific objectives:
1. In partnership with NARS and national seed services and partners development (NGOs, farmers organizations, district extension, the SBDS will support the seed producers/traders to produce and market quality seed of improved bean varieties in northern Tanzania through the agro-dealer network using affordable packs sizes targeting small holders particularly poor farmers and women.
2. In partnership with seed producers/traders and NARS, the SBDS will carry out R4D for testing innovative market strategies such as the use of affordable packs, assess their commercial viability including cost -benefit analysis and explore how the mainstream most viable pack size for each partners.
3. Manage the seed systems project assets/resources and sustain partnership to deliver on project's expected results and their targets .
4. Provide advice related to business development services to bean seed producers particularly ASA and Meru Agro- consultant Ltd to enhance bean seed production and delivery in business sound manner.
5. In partnership with seed producers/traders to design and deploy appropriate seed marketing strategies and tools to reach small holders particularly women
6. Train bean seed producers/suppliers in specific areas such' as seed business management including production, post-harvest, marketing, financial management, and strategy development.
7. Document (reports and professional publications) on improving the efficiency and sustainability of bean seed producers and supply and share knowledge. .
8. Support the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist to design and conduct a sound Monitoring and Evaluation (M+E) framework to capture relevant seed data and to document case studies
9. Assess and explore appropriate institutional linkages in order to sustain best seed systems practices and create synergetic actions for scaling up of these best practices across Tanzania.
10. Represent the project in all fora and engagement
11. Produce and submit relevant projects reports (technical, financial and any other document) as required by the project
Qualification and Experience.
1. Strong background in seed business, agribusiness and agri-economics at MSc / MA levels.
2. Five (3) years practical experience in managing seed business is strongly preferred.
3. Previous or current work on seed related activities in Tanzania is an added advantage
4. Good command of written and spoken English language and Swahili.

CIAT is seeking Geospatial Information System Analyst (GIS) who has Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) skills to support the Bean Research Areas in Tanzania; the position will be responsible for GIS mapping and spatial analysis in different project areas under the guidance of a senior scientist and bean seed systems project. JOB TITLE: GEOSPATIAL INFORMATION SYSTEM ANALYST (GIS)
Main duties and responsibilities include
1. The GIS will share the project result based and performance measurement framework with project team members (seed producers, NARS, district extension)

Qualification and Experience
1. At least a MSc Degree in a geo-information related field with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience

3. Spatial data collection with the use of a GPS receiver
4. Good cartographic and graphic design skills using various software applications e.g. Adobe Illustrator
5. Basic knowledge of statistics and ability to use statistical programs '
6. Ability to design and deploy project management tools (planning and monitoring and evaluation systems)
7. Ability to work with map servers will be an added advantage
8. Organizational skills in order to assure quality data and traceable workflow
9. Capacity/willingness to work in the field.
