The
US Mission in Dar es Salaam is seeking eligible and qualified
applicants for the position of General Services Assistant – Furniture
pool Manager in the General Services Section.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Responsible for ordering, storage, distribution, inventory, and disposal, and maintenance of residential furniture and appliances.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ordering and disposal of furniture:

Develop and follow life cycle plan to ensure that adequate residential furniture and appliances (according to the Furniture and Appliance Pool policy) are available for the 120 residences. The plan will include the ordering and disposal of furniture to ensure that post is not overstocked with furniture and that furniture is rotated. Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and other documentation as necessary for the GSO or Management Officer.

Preparation of accurate inventories for arrival/departures:

Prepare accurate inventories for arrival/departures and ensure collection from employees that damage furniture through negligence or from pet damage. Ensure that residences are adequately, but not overly furnished. Oversee the removal of damaged furniture and appliances. Ensure that the welcome kit is in place and is adequate to the needs of the in-coming family.

Ensure that used appliances have been serviced between tenants and that appliances returned to the warehouse are in good working order. Adjudicate requests/complaints from tenants—solving where possible, and escalating where necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
All

- Education:
2 years university studies is required. - Experience:
Four years’ experience in logistics management or warehouse operations is required. - Language:
Level IV (fluent) (writing, reading and speaking) in English and Kiswahili is required. (This will be tested) - Job Knowledge:
Warehouse management, inventory procedures, logistics management is required. - Skills and Abilities:
Advanced in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Power point. Driving license required.

- Management will consider when determining successful candidacy: nepotism, conflicts of interest, budget, and residency status.
- Current OR employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply. Current OR employees with an Overall Summary rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance report (EPR) are not eligible to apply.
- Current NOR employees hired on a Family Member Employment (FMA) or a Personal Service Agreement (PSA) are not eligible to apply within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless they have a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
