Context/Scope:

Serengeti Breweries Ltd (SBL) operates exclusively in Tanzania and is the 2nd largest beer company with a market share of 25%.  SBL is a subsidiary of East Africa Breweries Ltd (EABL) – which is in turn partly owned by one of the world’s biggest alcoholic beverage companies, Diageo. The company is an integrated demand/supply business with 3 operational breweries in Dar Es Salaam, Mwanza, and a third one in Moshi, which is situated in the northern part of the country near the Kenyan border. SBL’s flagship brand is Premium Serengeti lager, which accounts for 50% of SBL sales volumes. The other beer brands are Tusker, Guinness, Tusker Malt, Kick and Pilsner. SBL  also boasts a portfolio of exciting Spirits brands such as Baileys, Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, J&B and Gordon’s Gin just to name a few. SBL has 3 fully operational breweries in Dar es Salaam, Mwanza and Moshi with a combined capacity of 1.3m Hls. Moshi has a capacity of c600khls per annum and a scope to expand to more than 1 million in F14.

Leadership Responsibilities:

The job holder can authorize staff leave up to two days and make necessary arrangements.

Purpose of Role:

To accomplish project work, planned, preventive and general maintenance services within the factory premises economically and timely through effective and up to date engineering practices; for quality glassware manufacture and continuous operations.

Accountabilities
  • Ensuring Asset Care Integrity. This involves ensuring that information on SAP is correct and equipment registers are up to date.
  • Scheduling and updating Plant Maintenance tasks and carrying out reviews. Ensuring that System plant maintenance tasks are closed out. Development of weekly reports and budgets.
  • Contributing to the Asset Care Strategy. Ensuring that there is effective stock management in relation to spares required for routine maintenance.
  • Organising and managing the planning for the availability of maintenance spares. Analyzing and reporting of all maintenance trends
  • Enable compliance and continual improvement in engineering section to take into consideration QSHE (Quality, Safety, Health and Environment) through appropriate support of all EMS/OHS programmes on site.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

Qualifications
Diploma in Engineering
  • Recognized qualification in Computers /Information Technology necessary.
Experience:
  1. Preferably about 3 years experience in the Brewing Industry.
  2. Understanding of ISO 9002 Quality System.
  3. Understanding of Brewing, Packaging, Plant maintenance and Quality Control.
