As an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwlde operations, the federally owned Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH supports the German Government in achieving its development-policy objectives.
GIZ is looking to fill the position of a PR and Communication Professional
Duty station: Dar es Salaam
Terms of the Contract: Fixed term contract.
Responsibilities
• Supporting the Country Director with strategic orientation of communication in the country, in presenting a consistent corporate image and communicating GIZ corporate policy and strategy to staff in the country
• Cooperating with GIZ’s Corporate Communications Unit in German
• Advising projects in the country and local communication experts on their communication work, and managing the exchange of information between projects, programmes and the GIZ country office
Tasks
• Coordinates media activities in the country
• Writes and sends out press release
• Monitors the media (documentation and analysis of media reports on GIZ or topics relevant for GIZ
• (Further) develops suitable communication instruments for PR (eg. Country broshures, fact sheets, advertising material, PowerPoint presentations on GIZ based on the corporate presentation, newsletters, information sheets for the country portfolio
• Managers he necessary coordination processes and the production of publications and materials in accordance with GIZ standards (corporate design, Standards for content)
• Provides editorial support to the GIZ officer’s website, coordinates and advises on the online presentations of projects and programmes
• Passes on information and supports dialogue between the country office and employees in projects and programmes
• Advises local staff on the regulations and contacts for PR in the interest of uniform GIZ image
Required qualifications, competences and experience
• University degree or comparable
• At leats 3 years’ professional experience in the field of communication (media and PR work, journalism, internal communication or lobbying or similar)
• Ability to express onself well both verbally and writing; polished, target-group oriented style
• Editorial experience, experience in writing; articles and press releases (evidenced e.g. by work samples)
• Very good working knowledge of Kiswahili and English with some knowledge of German is an additional asset
• Knowledge and previous experience with working in an international environment and/or Development Cooperation is essential
